Ncell users can now use Facebook and browse the internet for free – even without balance or a data pack. This has become possible after the private telco struck up a partnership with Meta, Facebook’s parent company. This free Facebook and the internet browsing are part of Ncell’s latest reinforcement of its Sadhain ON campaign that seeks to keep its users always connected.

Ncell has taken into consideration the chance of people being unconnected for not being able to afford data packs even in areas with good broadband coverage. So, Ncell collaborated with Meta and launched two exciting products on Tuesday, July 09, 2024- Discover and Facebook Basic Mode.

The free Facebook and internet access are extremely relevant for people on 2G handsets for being able to connect online anywhere anytime. This generous and trendsetting initiation enables them to stay online even without having balance or any Ncell data packs.

Facebook basic mode and Discover in Ncell with Meta partnership

Thanks to this ground-breaking Ncell, Meta partnership, Facebook, and internet browsing have become free in Nepal. Facebook Basic Mode lets users access Facebook with text and images. Likewise, Discover from Facebook gives users text-only internet browsing which is available through the mobile app with the same name.

If there is no data or you exhausted your data pack or mobile balance, then you can continue browsing Facebook and the internet with an Ncell SIM. Ncell says that the fair usage policy (FUP) applies in both of these cases. That means that the internet/Facebook browsing comes up to certain data volume. However, I won’t fret over it as getting Facebook and internet access even without the data pack or balance in this extent is already too convenient.

Another milestone of a Sadhain ON campaign

This initiation comes in part of Ncell’s broader Sadhain ON campaign. It has brought us streamlined affordable data packs. Then brought the ability to choose our favorite mobile number. And now comes, free Facebook browsing and internet access.

“We strongly believe that this initiative contributes to increasing internet adoption in Nepal and ensures that some basic services remain available on our customers’ mobile devices as part of our Sadhain ON campaign. Collaborated efforts like this will take a significant stride towards the achievement of the objective of a digitally inclusive Nepal,” said Umair Mohsin, Chief Commercial Officer of Ncell.

Facebook Basic Mode

While using Facebook Basic Mode on Ncell SIM cards, you can continue browsing the popular social network with text for free. Once you purchase the data, you get full Facebook access automatically which means with audio, video, etc.

Discover from Facebook

Additionally, to make internet browsing seamless, Ncell says that users can access browsing through the Discover from Facebook mobile app. Using it, Ncell users can browse and stay updated on the internet with text. The app allows search and internet browsing if you have an Ncell SIM card in your phone.

You can check out this Ncell Sadhain ON review post and find out why it’s distinctly good for Ncell users.

Discover app lets you browse any website. As said earlier though, it only supports text so no audio, video, or multimedia will be accessible. But there are some vital pros to it too. Discover comes with bookmarks for sites like the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), and the World Health Organization (WHO) which seeks to disseminate health and safety information to the people.

What do you think of Ncell bringing free text-based Facebook and internet browsing even without data or mobile balance? Does it remarkably elevate your user experience with the telco? Do share in the comment section below.
