Nepal Telecom (NTC) has committed itself to ensuring the reliable internet connection at the Tribhuvan International Cricket Ground (TU Cricket Ground) in Kirtipur with its high-profile connectivity services. The telecom giant has installed two 1 Gbps FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) connections and small cells for cellular data with 4G at the ground that will host 32 Nepal Premiere League (NPL) matches starting Saturday, November 30.
The gigabit fiber connection is being used for the operation of the Media Center during the NPL T20 tournament. NT brought the connection to the popular cricketing venue at the request of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). The connectivity helps CAN to smoothly conduct matchday programs thanks to the consistent and high-speed internet. Likewise, the small cells at the ground will keep users connected avoiding network congestion due to the high volume of spectators.
The fiber connectivity is for running the match-related programs while small cells are for mobile users to use 4G smoothly.

Nepal Telecom ensures internet with FTTH and 4G small cells at the TU Cricket Ground for NPL 2024
Nepal Telecom has participated in the NPL in different roles already. First, it’s a telecom partner of Sudurpashchim Royals, one of the eight franchise teams in the competition. Second, it’s also launched an “Ntc Cricket Dhamaka Pack” for users to keep track of NPL matches and live scores. Now, the leading telecom giant is also bringing its fiber connectivity to the TU Cricket Ground.
The NT Fiber 1 Gbps FTTH connection helps CAN deliver the matchday programs live from the ground. At the same time, small cells around the TU Cricket Ground will beam radio signals to ensure high-speed 4G for Ntc subscribers. Nepal Telecom provides connectivity via different internet services. Gig Fiber and small cells (For 4G) at the TU Cricket Ground are just two of those to ensure better quality internet for the event and customers.

Small Cells allow for smooth 4G use
If you were wondering, small cells are substitutes for base stations to float the service in crowded areas. In layman’s terms, it’s a small low-powered cell tower that provides network coverage in areas with dense users. TU Ground has a capacity of 20,000 visitors. NPL matches are expected to draw capacity crowds. So, a traditional 4G tower won’t suffice to provide broadband for all the spectators in a small area. The options would be huge capacity towers or small cells for cellular data services.
Therefore, NT is deploying small cells in the ground premises which enables users to browse at a remarkable 4G speed and stay online. The connectivity also lets you share match updates, photos, and videos online, and make calls smoothly from inside the stadium.
