Ncell says that there’s no issue in its number range for Application to Person (A2P) messages, SMS, and notification delivery as the company ensures customers of its services. The private telco says all of its numbers/customers are eligible to receive OTP (One-time passwords), short SMSes, and other notifications regardless of short codes or service providers.

Ncell says that this is more important for the key government bodies that need customer numbers for their KYC requirements. This is important to maintain customer databases to ensure timely and efficient communication about their service delivery, important notices, etc.

The latest statement comes to back up the telco’s stance that there is no problem from its side with any SMS or OTP delivery. Previously too, Ncell called for facilitation on OTP for the 970 range numbers. There were talks of users not receiving notices, OTPs, in the 970 range numbers. It barred users from receiving vital notices as well as OTPs for registration, KYCs, creating new social media accounts, etc. Ncell says that those are not the issue anymore.

The telco emphasizes that SMS services are extremely significant in today’s environment as digital services continue to rise. Customers receive various A2P messages such as OTPs, SMS, and notifications from various service providers. This includes government bodies, semi-government agencies, banks and financial institutions (BFIs), and private sector organizations. It also comprises global platforms, for example, Google and Facebook.

“We have no issues with A2P messages or notifications delivery in any number range. The increasing flow of A2P messages every year is a positive indicator of the growing digitalization, ensuring that our end users remain Always On,” said Umair Mohsin, Chief Commercial Officer of Ncell. “Some initial issues were observed with our 970 number range. However, we re-iterate that those have been resolved already with prompt understanding from various major service providers. For example, Ncell customers get notifications/OTPs from the Inland Revenue Department (IRD), Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), BFIs, and social media platforms,” Ncell says.

Further, the company clarifies misconceptions about SMSes, OTPs, and notification delivery from its side. It says that all Ncell numbers support receiving such messages within Nepal and outside on international roaming. Check out: International roaming in Ncell | Activation, Price, Problem

Likewise, the company also requested other short-code owners and service providers to include the new 970 number range in their system. This will further help in facilitating SMS, notification, and other service delivery to new Ncell mobile numbers. Ncell began issuing new mobile numbers with this range in 2023 to better serve its customers.

“There may be some short-code operators or service providers who are unaware of our new 970 range, so we sincerely request them to update their systems to support these numbers. All the Ncell number series is also accessible for incoming local and international calls as well,” Mohsin added. Check out: How to upgrade Ncell eSIM for free [2024] | All Steps and information

Ncell says that customers and service providers can contact the telco at its Ncell Customer Care or its Enterprise team to register or record their problems to sort them out. Moreover, customers and service providers can reach out to Ncell Customer Care or its Enterprise team to register or record their concerns so that the company can sort them out.

In addition to that, the customer can choose or personalize their Ncell numbers in the 970 mobile range with a Sadhain ON special number. This requires users to select the last six digits after the first 9705 numbers.

Ncell says that it’s highly committed to offering more facilities and expanding services to customers with this new number range.
