Just some days ago, Xiaomi unleashed its Xiaomi 12 Series phones globally. Seems like Xiaomi is not stopping here. Now, Redmi a subbrand of Xiaomi has joined the race with the Redmi K50 series and Redmi K40S. Redmi K40S comes with the same Snapdragon 870 chip in a new body plus minor improvements. Let’s know more about specs and Redmi K40s price in Nepal.
Redmi K40S sports a new design over its predecessor, Redmi K40/Poco F3. The design here is taken from its K50 sibling. Featuring a flat edge, the camera bump gets a fresh new design. On the front side, it houses a punch-hole display with stereo speakers on the top and bottom sides. The back is made out of plastic. There is no headphone jack though you get an IR blaster. The phone weighs 195 grams.
Coming to the display, the device is flaunting a 6.67″ FHD+ 120Hz E4 AMOLED panel protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Considering the E4 display, the contents should look vivid and vibrant. Also, the peak brightness is set at 1300nits for that panel. It lacks a dynamic refresh rate like its predecessor. The punch hole houses a 20MP selfie camera.

Redmi has implemented a triple camera setup on Redmi K40S. The resolutions of the lenses are the same as those of predecessors. You get a 48MP + 8MP + 5MP setup but the primary 48MP camera now comes with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). While the 8MP ultrawide doesn’t feature OIS and has an f/2.2 aperture with 119° FOV. The 2MP macro camera is a downgrade from 5MP. For videos, the max one can shoot is 4K @30fps from the primary shooter.
On the front side, it sports a 20MP camera for selfies. It can shoot up to 1080p @60fps and slow-motion 120fps with 720p HD resolution.
Redmi has decided to stick with the same Snapdragon 870 5G chipset. This 7nm silicon has proven to be better in thermal management than its new siblings, Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Packing a balanced yet powerful chipset, Redmi K40s has an improved 400% larger liquid cooling surface. There is a 7-layer graphite heat dissipation area and 9 temperature sensors for much better heat control.
The 5G chipset is coupled with 6GB and 12GB of RAM. The storage option goes as 128GB and 256GB respectively. Whereas the available 5G bands are 1, 3, 5, 8, 28, 38, 40, 41, 77, 78 SA/NSA.
The phone packs a 4500 mAh Li-Po cell with 67W fast charging support. It can fully charge the battery in 38 minutes as advertised. Meanwhile, it boots on Android 12 on top of MIUI 13. As expected, there is no microSD slot for storage expansion. An official IP rating is not mentioned but the company says it’s splash resistant. Other notable features are Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 5.1, A2DP, LE, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO, QZSS, NavIC, IR blaster, NFC, USB Type-C 2.0, USB On-The-Go, Dual Speakers, Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, and Hi-Res Audio Wireless, etc.
Redmi K40S is currently announced in China and should hit the stores soon. For Nepal, the phone might arrive under the Poco moniker. The expected Redmi K40s price in Nepal is Rs.55,000 for the base 6/128GB variant.
Product | Price in Nepal (Expected) |
Redmi K40S | Rs.42,000 (6/128GB) |
Although the phone looks like the same thing in a new body, the Snapdragon 870 5G chipset is still an ideal choice. What do you think? Will you consider buying this if it launches under the 45K price range? Do write us your thoughts below in the comment section.
