Samsung Galaxy A17 5G Overview
Design and Display
The Galaxy A17 5G is thinner than its predecessor Galaxy A16 5G. It has a thickness of just 7.5 mm against 7.9 mm of the previous generation lineup. The back is glass fiber while the frame is plastic, and the front gets a Gorilla Glass Victus treatment for protection. The design is minimalistic, and the camera island now holds all the cameras in it instead of featuring each lens separately. It’s also just 192 grams, which means it’s lighter than its previous sibling by 8 grams.
To the display, there’s not much of a difference. It’s got a similar 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 90 Hz refresh rate and 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. But there’s no complaint as it’s an FHD+ screen and retains vivid visuals thanks to AMOLED technology. The phone is protected from water and dust with IP54 ingress certification.
Performance
The Galaxy A17 5G is powered by Exynos 1330, and it seems there’s no MediaTek variant on this phone as its previous sibling. The processor consists of eight cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.4 GHz. It pairs with the Mali-G68 GPU. In terms of memory, we are getting 6/8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of storage.
In Nepal, it may arrive in 4/128 GB and 8/256 GB variants. What’s good about this phone is that Samsung promises it 7 years of OS upgrades. It’s such a relief for users these days. The brand has been this generous on most of its phones these days.
Camera and Photography
The phone features a triple camera setup. The 50 MP main camera now comes with an OIS feature, and there is a 5 MP ultrawide and a 2 MP macro camera too. The front has a 13 MP camera. These cameras can record videos at 1080@30 fps. Backed by Samsung’s AI prowess, the cameras are able to take pretty decent pictures with rich details.
Battery and Fast Charging
The phone carries a familiar 5,000mAh battery with 25W wired fast-charging. Samsung doesn’t necessarily break its 5,000mAh capacity on its batteries, but the software and hardware optimization help bring out the best performance anyway. Besides, it’s easily a one-day use phone on a fully charged battery.
