CG telecom (CGtel in short) is a telecommunication subsidiary of largest business Group of Nepal, Chaudhary Group. CG acquired STM, a satellite-based rural telecom operator back in 2013. They entered into telecommunication sector as CG Telecom.

Nirvana Chaudhary, Son of President Mr. Binod Chaudhary is the Managing Director of the company.

Although Government earlier decided to award the unified license to CG, NTA has not formally given the license due to some pending issues. Nor they have acquired the frequency spectrum required for the mobile communication system. Without which, they cannot operate any cellular network (2G, 3G, 4G).

CG Telecom has already announced to operate 4G and even 5G network in the country. They have already inked a deal with Huawei to buy the 4G equipment.

Earlier they had announced their partnership with Turkey-based Life Cell for Digital and Telecom services. With such a partnership, they had already launched a Bip messaging application.

As known, CG telecom has already prepared for the implementation of 4G networks (with VoLTE) countrywide in the same model as Jio (of India). But all they await is awarding of License and frequency Spectrum.
