Nepal Telecom 4G

Marking the anniversary day, Nepal Telecom has launched 4G service to its GSM prepaid subscribers. More than a month ago, they had launched the 4G service for postpaid users only. That time it was a soft launch, now this is a commercial launch with 4G prepaid. The Ntc 4G network is only available in Kathmandu and Pokhara city.

After the postpaid launch, the query for prepaid was very much high as 90 percent of subscribers are in prepaid. They made the soft launch so as to gradually improve the network with least no of customers. As the work for improvement has completed. Ntc launches 4G for huge prepaid customers.

The promotional offer for post paid was 1GB per day for 4 days but for prepaid the offer is  100 MB per day for 4 days.  We came to know about the offer from the snapshots send by our Facebook follower. The activation procedure for 4G is the same as that of before which is *444#. After that select 1 or simply dial *444*1#.

4G works fine with iPhone 5, 5s and 5c and some variants of latest iPhone too. There may still be problem with latest iPhone like 6, 6s and 7. The issue will resolve in the next update of their OS, scheduled to release in end of February or early March.

What do you need to use 4G?

You need to have 4G compatible handset and universal SIM (USIM). Please check LTE 1800 MHz (band 3) compatibility in your handset in the specs or search for available networks (under settings- Mobile/ cellular networks)to find Nepal Telecom 4G in the list.

The access point to use Ntc 4G is same as that for using 2G and 3G. For new users, you need to add apn with “ntnet” in the access point names.

How do I know my SIM is incompatible for 4G?

If you do not have USIM and is incompatible for 4G, you will be notified to replace the SIM after dialing *444#. Please go to nearest NT office to change your SIM to USIM, it will cost you Rs 50. Don’t forget to take the identification (Citizenship or license) card of the owner of SIM.
