Ntc bans Facebook Twitter in their office

It felt quite awkward to know that the country’s largest Telecom operator has banned Facebook Twitter. But it is not for their subscribers. The Facebook Twitter ban is for their own staffs. They have blocked these social medias from operating in their internal network, within the office working hours.

Citing the inefficiency of employees in their work, Ntc blocks those popular social medias in the Ntc offices. There are complains that front line staffs have not served the customers well in Ntc counters, but they hanged on to the social medias.  Management believes that the Facebook, Twitter ban in the office network, will help to increase productivity of their employees in the office working hours. They think that this ban will give more time to focus on their work, rather on other happenings in social medias.

Ntc took the decision to barr social networking sites for their staffs during office hours. It is known that the social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter will be open before and after the office hours.

It was last year that Government had also done the same in Singhadurbar offices. There are no any reports  to tell the increased performance of the staffs there. Nor the complains from people have abated.

This ban prohibits the employees from using Facebook, twitter from the office network directly. But they can always use it through their own mobiles using cellular network. There are  also several other ways like proxy, VPN to open the banned websites. Apart from Social medias, employees are known to use online news portal for politics, during office hours, so it is questionable if they can block those websites to make more time available for office works.

The debate!!!

Employees argue that blocking each and every site will not lead to solution. HR professionals claim, Having strict monitoring for performance rather than banning, could lead to reward and punishment system. Which will ultimately result in high motivation for work.

There are huge research going on for the effect of Social networking website in staffs efficiency which gives exact opposite results time and again. Even social media experts and HR experts fail to come to a conclusion for letting social networking sites in office or not.

We also wonder how they gonna update their social medias from the office. May be using Proxy!!!!
