Free internet by Ntc in 675 Earthquake affected areas.
NTC (Nepal Telecom) has launched free internet services in 675 different areas of the Earthquake affected districts. As of Jestha 21, 2075, Ntc has made free internet service available in 4 heavily earthquake-affected districts. They are namely: Sindhupalchowk, Nuwakot, Kavrepalanchowk, and Rasuwa. The operation of free NTC earthquake internet is possible with the use of technologies like WiMAX, CDMA EVDO, and 3G. Those areas include 187 in Sindhupalchowk, 159 in Nuwakot, 289 in Kavrepalanchowk, 40 in Rasuwa districts.
As per the company’s plan to install in 747 areas of those 4 districts, they have completed more than 90 percent of the plan. So Ntc has till now connected 284 municipalities, VDCs and Ward offices, 147 health posts and 244 Schools to the free internet.

In those four Earthquake affected districts, Ntc selected municipalities, Village offices, Schools, Health posts for the free internet service points. In addition to the new base station in WiMAX, CDMA, WCDMA technology, Ntc installed new devices for the connection in service points.
Speed of free internet by Ntc in earthquake-affected areas
Regarding the speed, the customers in those areas could use at least 512 kbps of the unlimited internet from Ntc. And the service is is free for 2 years in those service points.
This is being done as per the agreement with NTA (Nepal Telecommunication Authority) on Baishak 21, 2074. That time, Ntc agreed to provide free internet service in those Earthquake affected areas.
