Biplav led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) cadres have attacked several Ncell towers in different parts of the country. They torched several telecom towers of telecom company Ncell across the country. As known, the no of towers set ablaze has reached more than 24.

Those Ncell towers put on fire by the semi-underground party activists are from more than 13 districts. Police data shows that they torched at least one telecom tower in each of the districts namely Banke, Dadheldhura, Rupandehi, Argakhachi, Jhapa, Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi, SindhuPalchowk, Parbat, Baglung, Myagdi.

  • NTA raises concern, requests not to destroy the telecom towers.

Update: As known, unidentified group has damaged more Ncell towers across the country. As per latest Police update, the no of towers might reach above 25. This is a big loss to the telecom operator and distubrs people’s normal life over there.

On Wednesday Night, the CPN cadres torched a Ncell tower in Dhangadi Sub-metroPolitan City. Although they could not find any pamphlets nor their acceptance, Police has a firm belief of their involvement. This is also due to the reason that the party cadres have been damaging Ncell towers from some time.

NTC Tower also damaged.

Similarly, Police have found Nepal Telecom’s tower on fire in Arghakhachi District. Unidentified Group set ablaze Ntc tower in the Padhini Village body-5 Ground (Amaja). People suspect the same group to have mistakenly damaged Ntc tower, thinking of it as Ncell’s.

Update: Unidentified group has also damaged a Ntc tower in Sindhupalchowk. The same confusion might have happened with the group for destroying Ntc in palce of Ncell.

Although Police has been investigating on the Ncell tower torch issue, they are yet to come with the reasons. They also suspect more destruction in other Ncell towers as they are collecting information from more places.

Due to the attack, Ncell towers at several locations are disturbed with cables burnt, destruction of battery, equipment and more. It will take a lot of effort and huge resources to restore the telecom tower there. So, communication (2G, 3G, 4G) in those areas is affected. If only, there is a nearby telecom tower, mobile signal might reach to them otherwise People will be deprived of basic connectivity there.

We, Nepalitelecom are always against this sort of illegal activity which not only hampers the investment of the telecom company but also affects people’s daily lives.
