Some of the people are confused Mi brand with Redmi, so they call Redmi Note 8 Pro phones as Mi note 8 pro. Mi brand also has a Note series of its own, with number reaching 10 with Mi Note 10 phone. So, it seems Xiaomi has to separate the number in those brands to avoid confusion among General people.
First, let’s go with the Redmi Note 8 device first. Redmi Note 8 poses a 6.3-inch full-HD+ screen with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, with a waterdrop notch. The Gorilla Glass 5 protects the device in both the front and back. The phone runs on the Snapdragon 665 chip, which is an 11 nm fabricated SoC. Redmi Note 8 phone has RAM of 4GB and 6 GB whereas the storage ranges from 64 GB to 128 GB.
The phone has a quad rear camera setup with 48 MP Main lens, 8 MP Ultrawide lens, 2MP macro camera, and 2 MP depth sensor. The trend has been starting to set for the macro camera as there are a bunch of other devices with this setup. Regarding the selfie camera, the phone boasts 13 MP within the notch.
As there is no under-display fingerprint scanner, the phone mounts a physical scanner at the back. Normally you don’t expect such specs on such an affordable phone but who knows it may come to this range later.
The phone has a 4000 mAH battery with 18W fast charging through USB type C. Redmi Note 8 ensures you from using your existing headphone through the presence of a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
As known, there are three different colors of the Redmi Note 8 phone: Dream Blue, Meteorite Black, and White.
Now let’s have an overview of the highest-end among the duo. Redmi Note 8 Pro is a gaming-focused device, as it is powered by powerful MediaTek Helio G90T SoC. The phone has a 6.53-inch Full HD+ screen, with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and 91.4 % screen to body ratio. This means they have put the screen wider in the body with slimmer bezels. The RAM/storage variant of the Redmi Note 8 pro are: 6GB/64 GB, 6 GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB.
Great gaming power also requires some cooling mechanisms for which the phone has a liquid cooling chamber to cool down the device.
The phone also has a quad-camera setup but with a 64 MP main camera sensor (Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor). This should be the first device to launch with a 64MP quad-camera, which is brought in collaboration with Samsung. As the camera aperture is f/1.7, we can expect better camera performance in low lighting. All other cameras are the same as that of Redmi Note 8. The quad-camera setup is also different from that of Redmi Note 8, as it stands in the middle of the phone’s rear.
The Selfie shooter on the phone is of 20 MP with AI capabilities. The phone also bumps in the battery size which is 4500 mAh which also has the 18 Watt fast charging capability. The phone has an IP rating of IP52 for limited water and dust resistance.
Regarding the colors, Redmi Note 8 Pro comes in Pearl White, Ice Emerald, and Electric Light Grey colors. They also have a World of Warcraft edition of the phone. Although the phone supports NFC in China, there is a different version without NFC in Nepal.
