Nokia 7.2 – the mid-range phone from Nokia has launched in Nepal. The phone was first showcased at IFA 2019 alongside the Nokia 6.2 earlier this year. Nokia 7.2 features premium glass design, triple rear cameras, and waterdrop display. The handset is an Android One-based smartphone that shares almost similar specifications with Nokia 6.2. The price of Nokia 7.2 in Nepal is Rs. 23,999 for the base variant of 4/64GB. Only this variant is launched in Nepal.
The popular online shopping site – Sastodeal has launched the device exclusively at the amazing pricing which has drawn the attention of smartphone enthusiasts. The device is the successor of the last year’s Nokia 7.1 and is priced under Rs. 30,000 in Nepal.
This is the most competitive segment in the Nepali smartphone market where you’ll find devices like Galaxy M40, Vivo S1, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Mi A3, and others. The phones like Redmi Note 8 Pro, Realme XT are also launching in this segment and Nokia 7.2 is making a strong debut at the same time. Let’s find out whether Nokia 7.2 will fit right or not.
Nokia 7.2 packs a 6.3-inch IPS LCD FHD+ PureDisplay screen with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. There is a tiny waterdrop notch on the top and the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The implementation of PureDisplay offers higher contrast and wider dynamic range to the LCD displays which is tired and tested in devices like Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 8.1. There are a tiny notch and relatively smaller chin on the bottom with a Nokia branding on it.
Talking about the design of Nokia 7.2, the phone shares almost similar design language with Nokia 7.1. The phone comes with a premium glass front and back and a metal housing that looks premium on the design aspect. It is constructed with a “high-tech polymer composite” which is claimed to be 2 times stronger than usual polycarbonate found in other mid-range devices. There is a triple camera setup at the rear which is arranged in a circular module and the phone also features a dedicated Google Assitance button.
The cameras on the device are the strong selling point of the phone. The rear camera on the phone has been upgraded with a triple camera setup with Zeiss branding. Moreover, there is an LED flash installed inside a circular bump which looks almost similar to One Plus 7T. The primary 48MP shooter uses Samsung’s 48-MP GM1 sensor for high-resolution photos.
Moving on, there’s an 8MP ultrawide sensor with a 118º field-of-view and a 5MP depth sensor for portrait shots. For the selfies, there is a single 20MP lens inside the teardrop notch. Both the front and rear camera features Pixel Binning technology for clearer photos. Nokia 7.2 is capable of shooting 2160p videos @30fps and 1080p videos @30fps and has a gyro- Electronic Image Stabilization for stabilized videos.
Moving on to the performance department of Nokia 7.2, the device is powered by mid-range Snapdragon 660 chipset which is relatively old for the device of 2019! Although the performance isn’t that bad, it would have been better if they have used newer chipset like Snapdragon 665 which is found inside Mi A3. The handset is coupled with 4 and 6 GB of RAM and 64 and 128 GB of internal storage. Altogether there are three variants of the phone – 64GB 4GB RAM, 64GB 6GB RAM, 128GB 6GB RAM but only the base model is launched in Nepal.
In the software front, Nokia 7.2 is an Android One device that ships with stock and clean Android 9 Pie. HMD Global says the Nokia 7.2 is Android 10-ready and will be among the first devices to get updated to Android 10. As part of the Android One program, the Nokia 7.2 will also receive regular security updates for three years and at least two major Android OS versions.
Nokia 7.2 comes with a bigger battery with a capacity of 3500 mAh. There is an AI-assisted Adaptive Battery which helps to run the phone for a longer period of time as compared to other phones having similar battery capacity. Furthermore, there’s only a 10W charging feature which is very slow as compared to other devices these days.
The device supports Dual-SIM (Nano) with 4G capabilities. The fingerprint sensor is mounted at the back which is pretty quick and responsive.
Nokia 7.2 is available in Nepal for purchase through Sastodeal. Only the base variant of 4/64GB is now available in Nepal. There is no concrete news about the availability of other variants anytime soon. The phone was much hyped that the device would be available at an amazingly low price.
The price of Nokia 7.2 in Nepal is set at Rs. 23,999 for the base variant of 4/64GB and it is really competitive pricing. For this price, you need to add the device to the cart and then apply coupon GCI9SP while you check out.
You can look for other devices like Samsung A20s, Mi A3, Redmi Note 7 Pro in this range. If you want to go a little bit higher in price and specs, we recommend having a look at Samsung M30S, A30s.
