Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation had announced to donate medical supplies including test kits and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to Nepal. Now they have delivered the first batch of essential medical supplies to Nepal at Tribhuvan International Airport.

They handed over the supplies to the Ministry of Health and Population of Nepal which is known to be distributed across the country. Here is what other Nepali companies did to tackle Covid-19 in Nepal.

Alibaba Donation

The donation includes essential medical supplies by the two foundations to 23 countries like Nepal. The whole donation to these Asian countries includes 7.4 million masks; 485,000 test kits; 100,000 sets of protective clothing along with other medical equipment.

Managing Director of Daraz in Nepal, Mr. Lino Ahlering, presented the supplies to the Ministry of health and population. Being the MD of Daraz owned by Alibaba Group, Mr. Ahlering acted on the behalf of both organizations.

They organized a small ceremony at TIA where Ambassador from PR China to Nepal, Ms. Hou Yanqi and Minister of Health and Population Mr. Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal were also present.

“We hope this donation will help Nepal contain the spread of Covid-19. We are making our best
effort to support the global community. It is not easy to source and transport medical supplies to where it is needed the most, but we are working hard to get it done,” said the Jack Ma
Foundation.

Initiatives to support

Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba foundation has started this initiative in supporting the part of the world, hit by Covid-19 crisis. This donation is part of a number of initiatives. They sourced and delivered different types of medical supplies to not only Asian countries but also in North America, Latin America, Europe, and Africa.

As known, there could be more initiatives from the foundation in the future. They also supported to publish a handbook with collaborations from doctors, healthcare workers, and hospital administrators at various Hospitals in China. Those hospitals were also in the frontline for the treatment of Covid-19 in China and helped to slow down the spreading.

We would like to express our gratitude to Jack Ma and his foundations to support Nepal in the crisis period to combat Covid-19.

In other news, Daraz and Big mart have come together for home delivery in this lockdown period. Within some time they will start to send the essential products to people’s homes. Find the news about online home delivery in the lockdown period.
