Hult Prize IoE Semi-Final Concludes, 18 Make it to the Final

The Semi-final for the prestigious Hult Prize at IoE has concluded at IoE amidst the chilly morning on 5th February. Played out between 47 teams, the contest saw the 18 making it to the final.

The Prize was sponsored by Bajra Technologies, Team Vertex Nepal, Impact Hub Kathmandu, and Daraz.

The media coverage manager Ms. Suniti Shrestha addressed the crowd that chanted for the 47 teams, the judging panel, guests, and all present at a day-long event. She congratulated the participants for their success thus far in the contest despite a fiery battle. She also spoke on the journey of the Hult Prize at IoE so far and touched upon the entrepreneurship talk series and one mentorship session.

Mr. Bishal Bashyal, the IoE Director extended a welcome speech at the event. He said he was delighted with the presence of influential entrepreneurs throughout the event. He extended his gratitude to them for their mentorship and guidance to the participants to refine their skills.

Meanwhile, the media coverage manager Shrestha expressed her gratitude to the sponsors and media partners. She stressed that the success of the Hult Prize at IoE owes to their support and coverage.

Another attendant Mr. Nishes Tiwari, the keynote speaker from Bajra Technologies, and Senior Director at Hardware Solution pitched for “Dreaming Big.”

As the event progressed, the keynote speaker Mr. Nishesh Tiwari, a representative from Bajra Technologies, and Senior Director at Hardware Solutions, voiced the keynote for the Semi-finals “Dreaming Big”.

Hult Prize Semis – Pitching, and Musical Performance by Mr. Aabishkar Kc

After Shrestha introduced the panel of the judges, she elaborated the rules for the Hult Prize Semis. The participants received 3 minutes each for the pitch and 2 minutes for the QnA round. They scored on categories of Problem and Customer Definition, Solution Viability, Impact, Team.

Amid the brain-wrecking pitching sessions, Mr. Aabishkar KC sang his popular numbers to reinvigorate the participants.

A Discourse with Mr. Saunak Bhatta and Angad Daryani

Popular motivational speakers Mr. Saunak Bhatta and Mr. Angad Daryani also graced the Hult Semis. Bhatta who was the first guest speaker for the day offered his input on the action, impact, ethical framework, etc. Later, he interacted with the audience and addressed took their questions.

Then, the project manager Ms. Aakriti Sharma welcomes another guest speaker for the day Mr. Angad Daryani. Daryani is the founder and CEO at Praan, an inventor and social entrepreneur. She ran a discourse with Daryani who shared his experience on inventing a 3D printer at the tender age of 13.

Revisiting the initial days, he shared how he started the project from the scratch with limited resources at hand. He expressed the need to stay updated with knowledge from the world and concentrate it on your focus group for a sustainable enterprise. He stressed the need to focus on a project that is viable and sustainable.

Later, he shared his experiences of presiding over Praan as a second-year college student and now running the company as its CEO.

Former Miss Nepal Ms. Evana Manandhar graces the semi-finale

Former Miss Nepal Evana Manadhar also attended the event. The beauty shared her ideas on marketing and branding. She said an entrepreneur must be willing to jump to the risk and also create opportunities. She emphasized planning, implanting ideas on paper, analyzing, and implementing them.

Manandhar wrapped up her session after sharing that stability, consistency, and dedication lead to successful entrepreneurship.

“Random Nepali” holds a session with the audience

The next guest speaker was a sensational YouTuber who goes by Random Nepali. Original name Rastra Bimochan Timalsena is active in law, crime, and entrepreneurship. At the Hult Semis, he shared his journey as a YouTuber. He also voiced the concern that content creators might risk losing themselves in an urge to please the audience. However, one must be firm and build an image one wants to present to the world, he said.

He urged the participants to create the type of content they actually enjoy and focus on quality. Timalsena later spoke on time management. He admitted that he has committed his day time for his professional practice, and evening for his hobbies. However, he shared he takes out the time for self-care and rest in-between.

He also touched upon the cryptocurrency issue and criticized the authority for their failure to legalize it in the country. He said that we must adopt newer technologies rather than ban them.

Sandesh Karmacharya reveals the winners of Hult Prize Semi-Final

Finally, the most important moment for the day arrived. Sandesh Karmcharya took over for the announcement of the winners of the Hult Prize Semi-final. He revealed the  18 winners who will battle it out for the Hult Prize at IoE.

The announcement also pulled the curtain down on the day that inspired zeal, hopes, ideas, entertainment, and knowledge.
