The first-ever domain in the Nepali name, क्यान.संगठन (Can.federation in literal translation) has gone live. The website has been brought into operation by the CAN Federation of Nepal under a Universal Acceptance (UA) program. The development marks a significant milestone in Nepal’s digital space and gives Nepali language a new dimension on the web.
Since this domain is in Nepali language, the URL can also be entered in Nepali language. The site will open normally as you would do while typing a website name in English.
The Nepali language in the domain name is expected to help with a better understanding of the content. It will also bring convenience to the government website and email services.

Prior to its Nepali rendition, the domain was used in English as Can.org. However, now, Udeep Baral, the coordinator of the program, said that the website’s domain has been changed to क्यान.संगठन in Devnagari script. Baral spoke of the motifs behind using Nepali script for the domain. He said that using the domain name in Devnagari script helps write domains and emails in local languages under the UA norm.
Baral added, “The main objective of our program is to provide domains in the Nepali language as they are currently used in English. Since India has already used the Devanagari script, it is easy for us to use this script. As a continuation of this, we have registered Can.org and launched Nepal’s first-ever Nepali website.”
“Today, we launched Nepal’s first Nepali domain. Now, our focus is on assessing how ready other platforms are to support the Nepali language and educating youth on the rules and procedures for using email addresses in Nepali. UA Hackathon Nepal 2025 is organized with this objective,” said Bibek Silwal, the leader of the program.
The CAN Federation organized the program in collaboration with the international organization ICANN. ICAN has so far organized Un
