Google Bard, the tech giant’s ChatGPT counter is now available in Nepal, while its access has reached 230 countries aroudn the world. The AI generative chatbot’s recent launch in Europe also includes support for 40 different lanugages and new feartures. The latset expansion brings the AI chat service come to wider audineces after its inital beta test for only “trusted users”.

Bard is modeled on Google’s Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA). Pichai says the Artifical Intelligence chat service is the result of the company’s efforts in recent years. Earlier, Pichai had declared a “code red” to address ChatGPT‘s threat on Google with its own answer. Therefore, we could argue that Google could have expedited its AI chat service after witnessing a surreal craze for ChatGPT, its latest enemy in search. To counter, Google has also tried to make Bard lifelike and conversational.

“Bard seeks to combine the breadth of the world’s knowledge with the power, intelligence, and creativity of our large language models. It draws on information from the web to provide fresh, high-quality responses. Bard can be an outlet for creativity, and a launchpad for curiosity, helping you to explain new discoveries from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to a 9-year-old or learn more about the best strikers in football right now, and then get drills to build your skills,” Pichai wrote in a blog.

This is how Google Bard looks like

In the same blog, the CEO Pichai also shared what Bard will look like. If you make a query on the latest discoveries from James Webb Space Telescope for your 9-year-old, it would offer a response that is straightforward and easy to understand. Just like ChatGPT, Google is making its AI chat very approachable and convenient. You can also use Bard to compare movies, or plan a weekend or other mundane events.

The US search giant has attempted to make Bard a human-like friend that users can ask and look up to for answers and resolve.

Google Bard is now availble in Nepal and in over 230 countries, supports 40 languages

Gradually, google has expanded its AI chatbot Bard to 230 countries and regions which includes Nepal. Though the rollout was expected sooner but was delayed due to privacy concern in Europe.

Google Bard started in English version in the US and the UK back in March with users having to be in the waitlist to use it upon launch. This ended in May and the global rollout meant Google took its AI chatbot to 180 countries. But EU was the notable omission because of data concerns from Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC).

“We’ve proactively engaged with experts, policymakers and privacy regulators on this expansion,” Bard product lead Jack Krawczyk, and VP of engineering Amarnag Subramanya, wrote.

The latest expansion is called the “biggest expansion to date” and now supports Arabic, Spanish, German, Chinese, and Hindi as well.

  • Select a photo and submit to trigger a response.

With the latest update, users have five different options of the tone and style of Bard’s responses. They are simple, long, short, professional, and casual.

Google Bard vs ChatGPT could be fascinating

In the last few months, everyone has been talking about ChatGPT and its possibility of dethroning the internet king Google of its relevance. While the excitement could have been overstated, there is a substance too. ChatGPT is thorough and extremely engaging. Its responses are so good and detailed that colleges have been forced to ban it from using to avoid students copying the material for their assignments. Many creative digital media are using it to optimize their ads. No wonder many Nepalese have also tried ChatGPT to an obscene amount. So the onus was on Google to throw its dice to counter the viral ChatGPT. Bard though a lightweight now, will soon come with more refinement later.
