Nepal Telecom (NTC) has notified its customers that it has not provided any free calls. Dispelling the misinformation, the state-backed telco requested its subscribers to stay alert against such misinformation.

The telco released a notice via its official social media to aware its customers about the fake free calls information. It assured that there has not been such an offer at the moment.

In its notice, Ntc urged its users to be cautious against false information that spreads on various social media regarding free calls.

“It is requested to all to be alert against false information on social media such as Facebook Groups, Messenger, WhatsApp, and other social media about free calls,” the notice read.

The company made it clear that besides calls offered from various data and voice packs, it has not offered any free calls for its customers. Meanwhile, you can check various Ntc offers and packs here: Latest NTC Data Pack with Price, Code, Volume, & Validity

Likewise, the company has called on users to only rely on its webpage, mobile app, Facebook and Twitter accounts with a blue tick for information. It said users should get updates about the company’s services from official sources only.

The need to be careful

Fake offers and promotions have become rampant on social media. In recent months, telecom companies also becoming a soft target. Usually, hackers boost such false offers, promotions, or services to gain higher exposure to solicit interest and clicks which could lead to compromising user data. So, we urge readers to be exceptionally alert against clicking or tapping on any such materials on social media which seem suspicious.

Giving in to tempting posts on social media and clicking on them might lead to giving away our social media account details, bank login details, or other vital details. Despite being part of the digital age, it’s equally crucial to stay conscious of its darker side. Check out our post on how to identify fake news over the internet and break the chain.
