Popular smartphone brand OnePlus has drawn enough flak for the green line problem noticed on some of its phones’ screens. But the company now announced a “worry-free” lifetime replacement program against the frustrating screen issue.

This follows the Android phone maker’s earlier warranty program on older OnePlus phones. Fortunately, the assurance now extends to every one of those phones from the company from the latest OnePlus 13 to the previous lineups. The company will repair such screens for free on all models from the company. At the same time, it’s also working on an innovative technology that shall eliminate this chances of such problem in the future.

Robin Liu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OnePlus India, says that the move has made the phone brand the “first brand to offer a lifetime warranty against green line issues for Indian users, showcasing our confidence in our technology and our user-first approach.”

OnePlus announces a “worry-free” green line solution

According to OnePlus India, the company has developed a new display technology that would eliminate the green line issue on AMOLED displays. This involves the company adding a new layer on the AMOLED screen that consists of an advanced edge bonding layer that uses PVX edge-sealing materials. These materials are known to be highly resistant to impacts from moisture and chemicals.

The company said that the display technology on OnePlus phones “minimizes the occurrence of green line issues to the lowest level in the industry, even in India’s extreme heat and humidity while ensuring stable and high performance.”

Essentially, the company extended the test duration for its screen technology in the industry standard “Double 85” test. This involves pitting the display in 850C heat and 85% humidity. The company, likewise, undertook multiple “range of scenarios testing” to ensure the effectiveness of its new screen technology against the green line issue.

OnePlus green screen fix

The fix is part of the brand’s “Project Starlight” projects and the company assures that it will continue to invest resources in solutions that will deliver higher customer satisfaction.

How to fix the green line issue on OnePlus phones?

If you happen to have a OnePlus phone with green lines on the screen, you can get it fixed by going to the nearest authorized service center, where you can get a free screen replacement. This after-sales service applies to all OnePlus devices bought online and offline retail markets. And since the fix has to do with technology, the problem shall subside in the near future. Further, for phones already facing this situation, a service center shall cover it at no cost.

The fix is a new hope and relief to OnePlus phone users who have a fear of their screen malfunctioning. The situation also kind of teaches us how smartphone screens can be vulnerable to extreme climatic conditions. Let’s hope that the new display technology eradicates the green line problem on OnePlus phones. It’s also equally interesting to see if other smartphone brands announce similar solutions.
