OnePlus has officially said that it is not shutting down. The response comes after suggestions circulated that the popular smartphone OEM was discontinuing its smartphone business owing to financial challenges and a shift in management.
As obvious as it is, the rumor made users anxious and unsettled OnePlus phone users and loyalists. However, OnePlus India CEO Robin Lui has sternly said that the company remains active and operational while completely denying shutdown rumors. He also added that the claims made about its discontinuation are false and baseless.
How did OnePlus shutdown rumors begin?
The rumors of OnePlus closing the lid on its smartphone business started after a report by Android Headlines. The outlet said that OnePlus is looking to end its business due to declining sales and has cancelled device launches. It also suggested that OPPO could acquire the company. After this ‘rumor’ broke, users, tech enthusiasts, and industry experts all made strong reactions to it.
Likely, the report also worried OnePlus users about software updates and customer service.
But the brand’s India CEO Liu, came forward addressing the whole saga. He said, “OnePlus India’s business operations continue as normal.” He also urged stakeholders to verify information from official sources before sharing “unsubstantiated claims.”

But contrary to what’s suggested, Liu didn’t address suggestions on the company’s internal changes.
What to make of OnePlus statement?
The statement from Liu makes it clear that OnePlus is not stopping its smartphone business.
The company has recently launched its flagship model, OnePlus 15, and its sub-ordinate, OnePlus 15R. The company has dismissed the rumors of its service closure, which should relieve the users.
Smartphone price is increasing in 2026 owing to higher prices for RAM, chipsets, and other internal components. We have already seen the effect on smartphones as OEMs continue to announce a hiked price list. However, a price hike doesn’t and shouldn’t mean the closure of business.
OnePlus is also a popular brand in Nepal and is famous for its distinct UI, rich specs, and affordability. The Indian unit’s closure projection might have caused worry, but as the company officially said, it’s not going down, at the moment.
