Nepal Telecom (NTC) and Omsatiya Rural Municipality, Rupandehi, have reached an agreement for service expansion and business promotion. The agreement has been signed by Hari Dhakal, Director of the NT Provincial Directorate Bhairahawa, on behalf of Nepal Telecom, and Krishna Prasad Panthi, Chief Administrative Officer, on behalf of the rural municipality. The agreement will work on the company’s FTTH service expansion at the local level.
Omsatiya Rural Municipality Chairman Manjit Kumar Yadav (Sonu) was also present on the occasion. According to the agreement, NTC will expand NT Fiber services in the rural municipality in three phases. Likewise, the rural municipality has committed to gradually connecting the company’s services to its subordinate institutions.
In the first phase, NTC will connect the Omsatiya Rural Municipality with 1 Gbps fiber internet capacity. In the second phase, internet service will be connected to ward offices and health posts. The third phase will see FTTH connections in community schools in the local body.
The plan comes as part of the company’s effort to connect all corners of the country with high-quality internet. NT Fiber is available in 77 districts, but there are still some local levels and institutions without reliable connectivity. The government-backed company is working on bringing modern internet service to these public service sectors.
