Sudan Gurung requests Ntc to stop data after package expiry

Sudan Gurung Ntc balance cut data package finish

Sudan Gurung, activists turned politician (now a member of parliament) has requested Nepal Telecom to automatically stop data after the user’s data package is consumed/finished or expired. This would prevent balance deduction from user’s main balance.

After being elected from Gorkha-1 constituency, Sudan Gurung recently visited Nepal Telecom and raised the concern along with demand for mobile coverage in several parts of Gorkha district.

He raised the issue that when mobile data pack finishes, internet continues to run on mobile balance and Rs 5 is deducted. So, as a solution he suggested to cut off mobile data when Ntc data package ends to prevent balance shock from balance deduction.

In reply to the above concern, Ntc Acting MD Reena Dongol stated that the company cannot switch off mobile data in the customer’s mobile. She shared that Ntc has been sending notifications to people of the data volume and expiry.

Users complain about balance cut after package expiry

Many users have been complaining about the mobile data remaining active after the package consumption or expiry. Sometimes it also runs in the background consuming data from main balance. As the balance is deducted from the user’s balance, they get angry and feel to have been robbed.

Although the telco sends notifications as an SMS for the volume consumption and expiry, it may have been overlooked or sometimes it does not terminate to the user device due to the network issue. So, users have been demanding of the resolution for the unexpected balance cut.

We suppose either the alerts for package consumption or expiry have been made more easier or implement automatic data cut off for the unexpected charges. Likewise, the company also needs to make the feature optional as there will be some users who want uninterrupted data even when package ends. Users also need to be aware of the data volume by monitoring data usage on mobile phone, if such feature is not in place. This can solve user’s problem and stop them complaining about automatic balance cut.
