The Communication Ministry has announced that Nepal Telecom (NTC)’s 4G speed improved by 59.7% in FY 2082/83. Minister Bikram Timilsina shared an infographic on his Facebook page that highlighted NTC’s internet speed boost and data traffic.
According to the ministry, the company witnessed data traffic growth of 24.2% in FY 2082/83. The traffic boost is directly related to the significantly faster 4G speed. The faster the 4G speed, the more data consumption by the users.
The ministry announced, “In the last fiscal year, NTC’s 4G internet speed increased by 59.7%. Following the improvement in service quality, Telecom’s data traffic increased by 24.2%.”
The communication ministry and Nepal Telecom have both emphasized improving the quality of service. The efforts to bolster 4G expansion and data speed have continued at a pace under the current government too. So far, NTC 4G coverage has reached 750 local levels. At the same time, the effort is also ongoing to improve service quality from voice to data.
NTC 4G speed increased in FY 2082/83 with higher data traffic
The fact that NTC’s 4G speed improved by 59.7% in FY 2082/83 is rather huge. But readers should be instructed that not everyone is getting the better data speed equally. Network performance depends on the number of users, carrier aggregation, and other factors. But the gist is that the improvement was quite significant. And on average, every user is likely to feel this improvement.

This is why it’s great knowing that the company is taking aggressive efforts to improve 4G speed and overall quality.
Going forward, the company plans to launch 5G in Nepal, being the first company to do so. For now, 4G is serving most of the needs for users before the next-gen network unlocks more use cases.
