Investigation Committee finds irregularities in the equipment process of Nepal Television
The 4-member investigation committee led by Dr. Sudip Bhattarai stated that there were illegal decisions, legal errors, and unauthorized financial liabilities in the equipment procurement process.
The report points out that the budget received under “Archive Digitization” in FY 2079/80 was spent illegally under the title of audio-video equipment in subsequent years. Likewise, it concludes that the procurement process was moved forward by opening an LC from the same budget.
At the same time, the report mentions that the decision to buy equipment with Rs 4.87 lakh from internal sources put more financial burden on the organization. Likewise, the process had no prior approval from the ministry.
The report also states that the proposal was approved despite not meeting the technical specifications in the bid evaluation on the purchase of the graphics system. It also reads a violation of conditions concerning the “consortium” and tampering with the Singaporean company after signing the purchase agreement.
