Minister for Foreign Affairs Shishir Khanal has urged Nepalis living abroad to avail consular services through the ‘MoFA Mitra’ mobile app. During the launch program for the app, he expressed his belief that the app would be effective in making public services more convenient and citizen-friendly.

‘The work of consular services has increased as those who go abroad to work are not aware of the rules and laws of the country they are going to,’ he said. ‘This service will also be helpful in providing any information to relatives of those living abroad.’

MoFA Mitra app availability
According to the foreign minister Khanal, the MoFA Mitra app has been made available in all 77 districts and all diplomatic missions abroad. Likewise, legal services have reached 500 local levels.
Minister Khanal said that there is a plan to take this service to all local levels in the coming fiscal year.
Director General of the department, Durapada Sapkota, said that the app will be used to protect the rights and interests of Nepalis living abroad and to get assistance in times of difficulty. He shared that the app is believed to facilitate processes related to corpse management, compensation, and insurance claims. This app will be effective because the number of people going abroad is large.
Information Technology Officer of the department, Nabin Kumar Jha, said that a mobile app has been launched targeting Nepali citizens living abroad. He said that services, including inquiries, rescue, complaints, and corpse management, can be availed from this. He said that arrangements have been made so that after updating the mobile app, the service can be availed at the relevant mission.
