Private telco Ncell has paid the government Rs 14.51 arba (billion)) in taxes in just nine months in various categories. The company paid the huge sum in taxes in the current fiscal year, FY 2082/83.
According to the company, it turned in Rs 2.12 billion in telecommunications service fees and Rs 1.96 billion in frequency fees.
The company also deposited Rs 1.74 billion in Value Added Tax (VAT) and Rs 1.29 billion in royalty payments into government accounts. It further stated that it paid Rs 1.80 billion in customs duties and Rs 1.25 billion in advance tax.
Likewise, Ncell contributed Rs 59.54 lakh in TDS and Rs 64.96 lakh to the Rural Telecommunications Development Fund (RTDF).

Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) records show that Ncell had a total of 1.40 crore voice service subscribers up to Baisakh 2083. The company boasts over 1.21 crore users on the 4G broadband network. The company provides VoWiFi, eSIM, and VoLTE along with various VAS services.
Going forward, the company plans to launch 5G. The company has sent a letter to NTA seeking approval for its 5G trial, and if everything goes to plan, we might see this happening by the end of 2083 or somewhere in 2084.
