Ncell has restored 14 mobile towers in flood- and landslide-affected areas of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading. Of the 27 affected sites, 3 in Rasuwa, 8 in Nuwakot and 3 in Dhading have been brought back into operation. The private telco has shared in a presser.

The company said that around 70-80 km of fiber links were affected by the Bhotekoshi flood. It disrupted services at 27 mobile tower sites. Ncell says that its technical teams worked round the clock to restore connectivity to support customers as well as ongoing rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts. As part of its valuable service, Ncell is providing free data and voice to Rasuwa flood victims for two days. The company has also contributed Rs 10 million for rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts.

“Where possible, damaged fiber has been repaired to bring the towers back into operation, while in some locations, old microwave links have been used to restore the network. We have also coordinated with internet service providers in some areas to restore fiber connectivity,” said Lena Keshari Kansakar, Head of Network at Ncell.

According to Kansakar, Ncell mobilized technical teams through both air and land routes to restore network services in areas affected by floods and landslides. With support and coordination from government agencies, the teams reached affected locations and carried out network repair and restoration work.

The company said it is giving high priority to restoring its network so that people in affected areas can remain in contact with their families and coordinate necessary rescue and relief efforts.
