Nepal Telecom (NTC)’s affordable yearly 30 Mbps plan has received strong demand. According to the company’s sources, the company is flooded with demand for a 30 Mbps connection as it grows popular against private ISPs’ stance on pulling away high-speed packages.
The 30 Mbps package is not new, though. Previously, the company had announced it as a student offer. It’s now presented to customers as an affordable option. But it has coincided with private ISPs’ decision to discontinue cheap packages, citing management expenses.
And while almost all major ISPs discontinued low-speed affordable internet packages, NTC continued with low-speed plans. This boosted the company’s service popularity, in particular the 30 Mbps plan. After PM Balen Shah promoted NT fiber offer, the package became a rage.
NTC’s 30 Mbps yearly plan rockets in popularity
According to the company’s insiders, it has been receiving thousands of demand for the 30 Mbps NT fiber internet package and others on a daily basis for the past few days. It’s a huge detail, and it will show up in the coming MIS reports on fiber internet users in Nepal.
But the company is only able to connect around 1200+ NT fiber connections in a day. That means, lots of wanna be customers of NT fiber are still waiting for connections from Nepal Telecom.
A question begs: Why is the 30 Mbps plan so popular? It has some credible answers too. First, 30 Mbps internet speed is almost decent for most internet activities. It enables social media browsing, downloading files, watching YouTube, etc. And at just Rs 4,999 for a year, it’s affordable compared to other high-speed plans. Also, those who are wishing to experience a new service are making a switch to NTC’s fiber internet plan.
Since the company provides fiber internet, IPTV, and phone service, NT’s fiber service becomes more attractive for many. It’s evident on social media, as many users are sharing how they have switched to NTC’s fiber internet package from their previous ISP.
198 is busy with demand calls
Obviously, the 198 number is busy, keeping users waiting for long periods to register their demands. It’s a testament to the popularity of the 30 Mbps plan.
For the same reason, NT started a complain portal for fiber internet demand and other services. It’s currently an alternative to request the package if the 198 number is busy.
As of now, NTC has over 3.75 lakhs internet users as of Bhadra 2083. But it’s likely to increase by leaps and bounds in the coming months.
The sure thing is that NTC’s 30 Mbps plan and the insistence on continuing its affordable packages have hit the chord with internet customers in Nepal.
