Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) announced that the company has shipped 6.9 million units of 5G smartphones as of December 2019, in addition to contributing end-to-end 5G solutions. Huawei has been doing a lot of jobs for the future of 5G. Huawei’s ruthless commitment to 5G R&D and reinforce Huawei’s leadership in 5G technology has made them reach the record number of sales.
5G phones
At the moment, Huawei there are 6 devices sold by Huawei with 5G under its own brand. They are Mate 20 X 5G, Mate 30 5G, Mate 30 Pro 5G, Mate 30 RS Porsche Design, nova 6 5G, the foldable Mate X. There are two more 5G phones under the subsidiary brand Honor – the V30 and the V30 Pro. With all Huawei’s 5G smartphones supporting 5G NSA and SA networking modes, Huawei’s 5G-enabled devices are the obvious choice for consumers looking for a futureproof 5G device.
5G equipment
Huawei is offering a lot of equipments and technologies regarding 5G, including 5G infrastructure technology, 5G network equipment (base stations, core networks, optical networks, and mmWave-enabled technology), 5G chipsets (base station chips, baseband chips, smartphone chips) and 5G end-user devices (smartphones, customer-premises equipment (CPE), portable routers and tablets). We can hope Huawei to grow more into 5G in 2020 keeping affordability and reliability in mind. We can also expect Huawei to bring 5G services in Nepal in the near future too.
While Samsung reached its businesses across the world, including the United States, most sales Huawei achieved in 2019 were in its home market where its Korean rival is almost nonexistent. There are very few countries with 5G networks that market phones by the Chinese company, like the UAE, but their presence to the breakthrough is very tiny, given the size of the market.
Wearables
Along with Huawei’s strong 5G smartphone sales, it also recorded that sales of its wearables are operating well. The popular smartwatch, Huawei Watch GT 2 has shipped more than two million units in three months of the launch date, while the Huawei FreeBuds 3 have been sold more than one million in its initial month.
Growth
Studying the prospect, Huawei’s rotating director Xu Zhijun is predicting an 18% increase in sales revenue for a total of 850 billion yuan ($123 billion USD) for 2020 despite the ongoing stress from the U.S. He also emphasized the importance of developing out Huawei’s HMS app platform to support sales abroad after losing access to Google’s apps and services.
