Realme has discontinued its X series of smartphones, the company’s CEO for Europe and India, Madhav Sheth has confirmed. That means the Chinese phone maker will no longer produce any phone with X in its title making Realme X7 Max 5G, the last of its kind.

“The X lineup will be replaced by the GT; so the GT is the new X”, Sheth said during an interview. Some of the GT smartphones have already hit the markets in China and European markets this year. The series is ready for its formal birth on August 18th. The successor series will appear in Standard, Master Edition, and Master explorer Edition versions.

Talking about The Realme X lineup

Realme X phones contributed to the legacy of Realme’s evolving brand. Featuring the phones in the upper-mid-range segment, they steadily raised the brand’s stakes in its international markets. However, the GT series will be the hybrid of both the mid-range and flagship phones with 5G support. The company will unveil the GT Master Edition on August 18 globally.

Realme launched 10 phones with the X- title. It included the X7 Max 5G, X7 Pro 5G (review), X7 5G, X50 Pro 5G (review), X3 SuperZoom (review), X3, X2, X2 Pro (review), XT, and the Realme X.

While the X lineup will be out of the assembly line, it will not affect Realme’s C and other numbered models. The GT lineup is only going to carry the legacy of the X lineup.

Being a technophile, I am particularly fascinated by the evolution of mobile networks in Nepal from legacy networks (2G, 3G) to 4G (with VoLTE, VoWiFi, eSIM) and the prospects of the upcoming 5G, and equally enthralled by the development of internet from the dial-up connection to the 2 Gbps XGS-PON fiber broadband technology and their transformative impact in the country.
