9 candidates have applied for the position of the government-owned telco Nepal Telecom‘s Managing Director (MD). As the tenure of the current MD is going to be complete soon, MoCIT has started the process of appointing the top managerial position of the leading telco.

Out of the nine candidates, two are from the company itself while three are former employees of the company.

Candidates for NTC MD Post

Applicants for the Ntc New MD from the company itself are Mrs. Sangita Pahadi and Mr. Suraj Singh Thapa. Both of them are in the top managerial positions just below the Managing director. Mrs. Sangita Pahadi is currently serving as the CCO (Chief Commercial Officer) for the company whereas Mr. Suraj Singh Thapa is the Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO).

Among the candidates is Mr. Buddhi Acharya who has already served as a Managing Director (MD) for NTC. Similarly, former Directors Mr. Amalendu Narayan Singh and Mr. Pradeep Raj Upadhyaya have also submitted their applications for the Ntc MD post.

The remaining candidates include Mr. Nagendra Kumar Das, who had worked in Smart Telecom before, and Mr. Sunil Poudel, serving at National Information Technology Center (NITC). Similarly, the former MD of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) Mr. Arjun Babu Dhakal will also vie for the post. And Mr. Dipak Bahadur Shahi has also applied for the post.

Although these are the final candidates for the coveted position, the selection process for the post of MD will stay on hold for now due to the interim decision by the Supreme Court.

In a case filed by Dr. Rajendra Kumar Pokharel at High Court, Patan, another interim order has been issued which also derails the process of MD selection. Both appeals were regarding the age limit on the Managing director’s applicants’ eligibility. But as the supreme court has come up with a verdict dismissing the writs against it, the MD appointment process will begin soon.

Tell us what do you think of the candidates for the Nepal Telecom MD and who do you think is more eligible?
