Ntc to other operator interconnection charges offnet call tariffs

State-owned telecom operator NTC (Nepal Telecom) has lowered its interconnection call charges to other operators (Ncell, Smart Cell). Compliant with NTA’s Interconnection Guideline 2076, the revised tariff will apply to NTC’s Domestic Interoperator calls and SMS to other networks.

NTC’s reduced interconnection call rate and new tariff become effective from 2078, Magh 18.

NTC says its domestic interconnection rate on voice calls to other operators has been approved as per NTA’s decision on Magh 16, and 18. Subsequently, the new off-net call/SMS tariffs are effective from Magh 18 (2022, February 01).

Interconnection charges are the types of liabilities one operator pays to another when a call or SMS service establishes between the two network operators.

Being a technophile, I am particularly fascinated by the evolution of mobile networks in Nepal from legacy networks (2G, 3G) to 4G (with VoLTE, VoWiFi, eSIM) and the prospects of the upcoming 5G, and equally enthralled by the development of internet from the dial-up connection to the 2 Gbps XGS-PON fiber broadband technology and their transformative impact in the country.
