NTA, ISPs Start Cable Management in Kathmandu, Find Routes

Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) started cable management in Kathmandu Metropolitan City on Baisakh 25 Monday. The local body had earlier given an ultimatum for the removal of wire management of the poles. In response, the regulator and ISPs began the work after the KMC mayor warned that it would start removing cables if the demand is not addressed. Find out the route plan for the work inside the metro.

The city demanded the removal of surplus cable TV, internet, and telecom wires to avoid fire hazards and beautify the city. The authority had called the work difficult to do at once however, has addressed the demand for the metro. In the meantime, the authority is also making a provision for the “utility duct” for effective cable management in Kathmandu.

In a recent meeting among NTA, representatives of ISPs, and Kathmandu Metro agreed to start wire management from Baisakh 25. So from 8 am on Monday morning, the work of removing tangled, tangled, and hanging wires on roadside poles began. Currently, the work is ongoing around Maitighar Mandala and the New Road area.

Route plan for cable management in Kathmandu Metropolitan City

NTA has published the route plan for the work of unnecessary wire removal inside Kathmandu. The area includes Maitighar to Airport, Tripureshwar to Maharajgunj, Newroad to Basantapur via Asan, Maitighar to Putlisadak to Narayanhiti, Bhadrakali to Narayanhiti to Kamaladi to Ranipokhari.

Similarly, the International Convention Center Nayabaneshwar via Dillibazar-Anamnagar, Shitalnivas via Nakhakal-Baluwatar, Kalanki via Maitighar-Tripureshwar, Samakhusi via Lainchaur-Askal-Ranibari, Sohrakhutte-Dhalko-Tahchal via Swayambhu, Sinamangal-Puranobaneshwar via Gaushala, Gaushala-Boudhanath, and Kalimati- According to the authority, the route plan of Balkhu via Kuleshwar has been determined for cable management.

The authority has urged all the service providers to be present at the routes at the time of wire management. Otherwise, it has wanted that they will be responsible for the hazard to used cables.

Otherwise, the authority has warned that if the wire is cut or removed, the service provider should be responsible. Name of service provider organization or license no. It’s also required of the ISPs to tag their cables clearly mentioning their name or license number for easier identification.

Earlier, Kathmandu Metro had an ultimatum of 15 days till Baisakh 27 for the resulting to cluttered wires in Kathmandu.
