Nepal’s leading private operator Ncell Axiata installed a total of 338 new mobile towers in the previous Fiscal Year FY 2022/23. The effort was part of the telco’s plan of expansion and improvement of its quality of service (QoS) for customers. The installation and upgradation of the base transceiver stations (BTS) brought advanced telecom services to more remote areas and at the same time also improved connectivity for users across the country.

After establishing its mobile towers in new areas, the locals have been able to benefit from advanced 4G services. Ncell says that a total of 55 rural and remote areas across the mountain, hilly, and Terai regions now enjoy access to high-speed mobile broadband service.

The areas include villages of Uttargaya Rural Municipality (Rasuwa), Thantikandh Rural Municipality (Dailekh), Durgathali Rural Municipality (Bajhang), Jantedhunga Rural Municipality (Khotang), and previously uncovered areas of Inaruwa Municipality (Siraha).

We have connected remote and rural villages by expanding our network to ensure access to basic mobile as well as high-speed mobile broadband connectivity, contributing to the vision of Digital Nepal. We are constantly working towards our goals of connecting every Nepali through our network, providing high-quality modern services to consistently create better value for customers and partners.”

Improved 4G capacity across the country

Similarly, Ncell upgraded around 1,450 sites in 60-plus districts across the country, further improving the telco’s 4G capacity. Of the total, Ncell says that it upgraded over 780 sites in municipalities, and over 440 sites in rural municipalities. Additionally, the private telco also upgraded sites’ capacity in metropolitan and sub-metropolitan cities to provide better services to its customers.

Ncell operates a total of over 4,000 4G BTS sites across Nepal which ensures high-speed mobile internet. Besides, the company’s 4G networks also allow for Voice Over Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE) service which delivers HD voice service.
