Tecno, the Transisson subsidiary has launched the latest midrange phone in Nepal. It’s the Spark 20C which arrives with a 90Hz LCD display and a Helio G36 chipset onboard, targeted right at the budget-conscious customers. Design and Display
Let’s commence with the design side of things. The Tecno Spark 20C adopts an iPhone-like design on the rear, which has become quite a norm for budget Tecno phones these days. Speaking of the build, Tecno has used plastic material all around with a glass front.
On the front, there is a 6.67-inch IPS panel with an HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, ensuring a smooth motion rate. This phone is available in four color shades: Gravity Black, Mystery White, Apenglow Gold, and a Magic Skin with a leatherback texture.

Camera
As it’s a budget phone, the optics are pretty basic here. You get a 50MP main shooter which is accompanied by a 0.3MP useless depth camera. Meanwhile, the third camera cutout doesn’t boast any lens and is a gimmick. For selfies and video calls, there is an 8MP front camera placed in the hole-punch cutout.
Performance
As for the horsepower, the Spark 20C gets it from a 12nm fabbed Helio G36 silicon. It is an octa-core processor which features four Cortex A53 cores at 2.3GHz and four Cortex A53 cores at 1.8GHz. Meanwhile, the graphics side is handled by a PowerVR GE8320 GPU here.
Speaking of the software, the phone boots on Tecno’s HiOS V13 built on top of Android 13. Likewise, it is available in a sole version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. You can also virtually expand the RAM by another 8GB.

Fueling the phone is a 5000mAH Lithium Polymer (Li-Po) cell. It supports 18W fast charging and Tecno ships it bundled inside the box. Moreover, the device is capable of dual 4G LTE network, VoLTE, Bluetooth, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. Other features include a dual stereo speaker setup and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Our Verdict
The Spark 20C seems a decent offering in the 15K segment with an eye-catching design and looks. The Helio G36 should offer a reliable and decent performance for normal users while you can only play basic games on it. I wish Tecno had used a Helio G85 chip here instead. Other than that, there is nothing much to complain about.
