Ncell Acting Chief Technical Officer (CTO) Lena Keshari Kansakar has been honored with the “National ICT Excellence Awards 2024”. The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MoCIT) selected Kansakar with the prestigious accolade in the “women’s” category on the occasion of National ICT Day 2024.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ presented the award to Kansakar during a special ceremony at Rastriya Sabha Griha (City Hall) that marked the National ICT Day 2024. This recognition also comes with Rs 100,000 and acknowledges Kansakar’s outstanding contributions to the development and expansion of ICT and her efforts towards building a prosperous Nepal.

Who is Lena Keshari Kansakar, the National ICT Excellence Awards 2024 winner?
Lena Keshari Kansakar comes from an engineering career background. Initially, she joined Ncell as an Assistant Engineer in 2005. As the Acting CTO of Ncell currently, she leads a technical team of over 140 employees. She is the first Nepali woman to hold this position in Ncell.
At Ncell, Kansakar has remained prominent in various ambitious projects. For example, she has been vital in the implementation of 2G, 3G, and 4G expansion across Nepal. Besides, she has also led initiatives such as telecom service access in rural areas, VoLTE, and the establishment of data centers in Ncell.
By education, Kansakar holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Kathmandu University (KU) and a Master of Science in Information and Communications Engineering from Universität Karlsruhe (TH), Karlsruhe, Germany. She has also done her EMBA from Pokhara University. “Her invaluable contributions have played a pivotal role in establishing Ncell as a leading telecommunications service provider in the country,” Ncell says in its presser.

Other winners
On the monumental event, MoCIT also honored several other individuals and organizations with awards. This includes Dr. Shailendra Giri from Pyuthan who bagged the National ICT Excellence Award 2024. At the same time, One Point Financial Services took the National ICT Innovation Award 2024.
Similarly, Monal Tech won the ‘National ICT Startup Award 2024’. The Social Security Fund received the National ICT Award 2024 (Public Sector), while the Data Hub was felicitated with the National ICT Award 2024 in the private sector category. During the same event, Dynamic Technosoft was awarded with the National ICT Award 2024 at the provincial level.
