Apple has launched iPhone Air at its awe-dropping event in Cupertino, California, on September 8, 2025. The phone is marked for its super slimness, light weight, and very much draws discussions on how the battery will fare. It’s a unique and innovative device from Apple, which dispels accusations of the company not being innovative enough. Let’s explore more about this phone.
iPhone Air Specifications and features
The iPhone Air measures 5.6mm in thickness, which is remarkably thin. Remember the phrase, “Vanish into the thin air”? It kind of does. The device is also lightweight at 165 grams. It’s also the only iPhone in the iPhone 17 Series to have an itanium frame. It comes in Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue colors. At 5.6 mm, it’s even slimmer than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge which measures 5.8 mm.

Display-wise, it has a 6.5-inch LTPO XDR OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It makes the phone larger than the base model, the iPhone 17. Additionally, the brightness of this iPhone reaches up to 3000 nits, which is common across the iPhone 17 Series. It uses an anti-reflective coating that keeps the glare at bay. The phone’s screen comes with a protective layer of Ceramic Shield 2. It’s IP68-certified to protect against water and dust.
It’s got a horizontal camera bar on the back, which houses a single 48 MP fusion camera. Apple says the single camera does the job of multiple cameras. The front has an 18 MP selfie camera and retains the dynamic island as well. Both cameras can record videos at 4K at 60fps and feature OIS as well.

Performance and Storage
The iPhone Air runs on the Apple A19 Pro chipset, which is fabricated using a 3nm process. It’s got hexa-core processing with up to 4.26 GHz clock speed. The phone is fully eligible for Apple Intelligence, the American phone maker’s AI suite including features like Visual Intelligence, Live Translation, Clean Up, Genmoji, Writing Tools, etc. There’s no 128 GB storage, and that’s good. It starts at 256 GB and has options of 512 GB and 1 TB at the max. IT’s said to have 12 GB of RAM, though Apple doesn’t officially mention it. It boots on iOS 26.

The phone’s battery charges up to 50% in just 30 minutes and supports 20W wireless and 4.5W reverse wired charging. Many have speculated how Apple managed to make this phone’s battery workable due to its ridiculously thin size. But Apple says that it offers up to 27 hours of video playback, which should translate to an all-day battery life. There is no infrared port, but it supports WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, 5G, and has a USB Type-C 2.0 port for file transfers and charging.
