Arriving with the latest M2 chip, the new Macbook is coming with new designs and features. It is now available for pre-order in Nepal. Apple Macbook Air (M2) Overview

Design and Display

MacBook Air (M2) comes with a newer design, similar to MacBook Pro. It comes with a backlit magic keyboard consisting of 78 (U.S.) or 79 (ISO) keys including 12 full-height function keys and 4 arrow keys in an inverted-T arrangement. There is also a Touch ID for security and support for an ambient sensor for automatic brightness. Also, the trackpad has pressure-sensing capabilities for forced clicks, multi-touch controls, etc.

The display here is a Liquid Retina 13.6-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit display with IPS technology. It has a resolution of 2500*1600 pixels with 224 PPI density. There is also True Tone technology and Wide Color (P3) for the display. Furthermore, the display has a maximum brightness of 500nits.

New M2 Chip

This new MacBook Air packs in the latest M2 chipset under the hood. The silicon was unveiled on the same day. It is built on the second-gen 5nm process as its predecessor, the M1 chip. It is an 8-core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. Having unified memory architecture and focused on power efficiency, it has an 18% more powerful CPU and 35% more powerful GPU. Also, it has 20 billion transistors. It can now perform more than 15.8 trillion operations per second with a 40% faster neural engine.

The chip has an 8GB unified memory which can be configurable up to 16GB and 24GB. In terms of storage, it has 256GB SSD configurable up to 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB.

MagSafe Charging, Ports, and Battery

This new MacBook brings in the support of dedicated MagSafe charging. Next to the charging port, there are two thunderbolt/USB 4 ports. Plus there is a 3.5mm headphone jack too. MacBook Air 2022 (M2) gets its juice from a 52.6Wh battery. The laptop also supports 67W USC-C charging that can charge its cell 50% in 30 minutes or so. But Apple has provided a 35W adapter in the box.

Other Specs

Talking about other specs, it boasts a quad stereo speaker setup and a three-mic array. There is support for spatial audio when playing music or video with Dolby Atmos on the built-in speaker. The laptop has a 1080p FaceTime HD camera with an advanced image signal processor with computational video.
