Honor has just released its latest budget smartphone in Nepal, following up on the Honor X6a which debuted nearly a year ago. The new model, the Honor X6b arrives with a bump in performance and other features. Design and Display
Visually, the Honor X6b closely resembles its predecessor, the Honor X6a, featuring flat edges, a square-shaped camera module, and a monochromatic finish. As expected, it’s a plastic build all around with a teardrop notch display. It’s available in colors: Forest Green, Starry Purple, and Midnight Black in Nepal.
The display remains unchanged from the previous model, with a 6.56-inch TFT LCD screen boasting a 20.15:09 aspect ratio. This HD+ res panel supports a 90Hz refresh rate, and 780 nits peak brightness ensuring good sunlight readability. The phone also includes DC dimming to reduce eye strain in low-light conditions and is certified 5-star drop-resistant.

Performance
Under the hood, the Honor X6b is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, which offers improved performance over the Helio G36 found in the previous model. Despite being an older chip, the Helio G85 outperforms its predecessor significantly in benchmarks, even with a lower maximum clock speed.
This time, the phone is available in more configurations, including a 6GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, doubling the storage capacity compared to the previous model. But for the time being, only the 6/128GB is available in Nepal. Moreover, the Honor X6b also comes with Android 14 out of the box, layered with MagicOS 8.0.

Camera
The Honor X6b now features a dual-camera setup, removing the largely redundant macro lens. The camera system includes a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, there’s a 5MP camera for selfies. The camera module also has two additional cutouts, one for an LED flash and another for aesthetic purposes.

Our Verdict
The Honor X6b is a well-priced budget midrange phone given its price and specs. The 5-star drop-resistance display is commendable for this segment while the Helio G85 stands as a decent processor. Other than that, the 5200mAh silicon carbon battery paired with 35W wired charging is also pretty nice.
