State-backed telecom company Nepal Telecom (NTC) has started free WiFi hotspot service from Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal. NTC WiFi at Tribhuvan International Airport
On behalf of the company, NT Acting Managing Director Sabina Maskey and the airport’s General Manager Hansraj Pandey launched the Wi-Fi internet service in the first phase at the Tribhuvan International Airport’s international terminal building. The coverage of the free Wi-Fi internet service is in the airport’s arrival, departure, VIP Lounge and waiting areas, among other places.

The initiative is part of the company’s broader plan which includes launch of free WiFi internet service at airports across Nepal. For this, it has signed a strategic partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). The plan will see the company providing free WiFi internet at 34 airports in the country.
For this, Ntc and CAAN signed an MoU on Falgun 11, 2080. This ground-breaking cooperation enables high-speed WiFi access for passengers, airport staff, and everybody at the airports helping them with connectivity.

Besides WiFi service, Ntc will set up an information and assistance room inside the airport to provide passengers with information about the company’s services. Such rooms will be established at the most convenient locations for the passengers. On the other hand, the Civil Aviation Authority will provide Ntc with suitable locations to set up equipment for WiFi service.
