Nepal Telecom (NTC) has brought into operation 4G in the Tilicho Trekking route (the road leading to Tilicho lake) in Manang. The state-run company switched on 2G and 4G services from October 17, 2025, for the tourist hotspot.
The company’s launch of 4G in Tilicho enables reliable data and HD voice (through Ntc VoLTE) services for the locals and tourists. According to Ntc, the 4G network will cover Khangsar-Shree Kharka-Tilicho base camp- 22, Bais Ghumti and nearby areas of Tilicho Lake, which stands at an altitude of 4919 meters. After 4G went live, communication minister Jagdish Kharel talked with field engineer Niraj Gupta via Video call from Tilicho. He also extended gratitude for the Nepal Telecom’s effort that took in bringing next generation technology in the remote tourist region.

Following this milestone service expansion, the company has thanked everyone who helped bring the service into operation. “Heartfelt thanks to the entire technical team of the Gandaki Provincial Directorate, who worked day and night to get this site operational as soon as possible, despite the high altitude and adverse weather conditions”.

Tilicho Lake is one of the lakes at the highest altitude in the world. It’s a popular trekking tourist destination which attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year. A 4G connectivity will accentuate their experience in the region as much as it serves the locals, government operations, and rescue efforts.
