Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus under the Redmi Note 12 Series, have arrived in China. The Pro moniker resembles more powerful specs and the devices are getting up to 200MP cameras and 210W fast charging support. Both siblings share the same design language here, a glass front, aluminum frame, and glass back body. Even, the camera modules are identical as well as the button placements. Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is a bit heavy and thick though. Nevertheless, both phones have a 3.5mm headphone jack and an IR blaster as well. There is an IP53 rating for water splash and dust protection on both models.
The display is a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel on both phones as its predecessor, Redmi Note 11 Pro. Certified by HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision, the screen also supports a 120Hz fast refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate on both devices. It is an Octa-core processor with 2×2.6 GHz Cortex-A78 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 cores. For handling gaming and graphics, there is a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. For the storage options, Redmi Note 12 Pro is available in 6/128GB, 8/128GB, 8/256GB, and 12/256GB configurations. While the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus get two variants; 8/256GB and 12/256GB. Also, the storage type is UFS 2.2. On the software side, both phones boot on MIUI 13 skin built on top of Android 12 OS.
Moving to the optics department, Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus sports a massive 200MP Samsung HPX lens with OIS. This makes it the debut of the 200MP camera on the Redmi family. It is a 7P lens with an f/1.7 aperture and a sensor size of 1/1.4 inch. Meanwhile, there is an 8MP ultrawide camera on board with an f/1.9 aperture. It has a FOV of 119˚ for capturing wider scenes. And completing the triple camera setup is a 2MP macro unit. For videos, the main camera can shoot up to 4K resolution videos at 30fps. While on the front side, there is a 16MP snapper for selfies and video calls. It can capture up to 1080p videos at 60fps.
As the higher-end model, the Pro model also flaunts a triple camera setup. Here, the main camera is a 50MP Sony IMX 766 lens with f/1.9 aperture. It is a 6P lens with a sensor size of 1/1.56-inch. Nevertheless, there is OIS for stabilization as well. As its sibling, there is an 8MP ultrawide unit with 119˚ FOV and an aperture of f/1.9. Likewise, there is a 2MP macro unit for capturing tiny objects. And for videography, the main camera can shoot up to 4K at 30 fps videos. Here as well, there is a 16MP selfie camera on the front that can record up to 1080p res videos at 60 fps.
Both phones have a 5000mAh battery for the juice. The Lithium Polymer battery on the Pro Plus gets the support for 120W fast charging. There is also an Explorer edition that supports whopping 210W fast charging support. This blazing-fast speed can do its job in just 9 minutes as per the company. Meanwhile, the regular Redmi Note 12 Pro gets a 67W fast charging. The company is shipping the full-fledged chargers bundled in the box for all three models.
Talking of other specs, both siblings are coming with support for WiFi 6 which is good for midrange smartphones. Other than that, there is dual 5G connectivity, Bluetooth 5.2, A2DP, LE, GPS (L1), GLONASS (G1), BDS (B1I+B1c), GALILEO (E1), QZSS (L1), USB Type-C 2.0, USB On-The-Go, etc. There is an under-display fingerprint scanner on both devices.
The expected Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus price in Nepal is Rs.43,999 for the base 8/256GB variant. While the Redmi Note 12 Pro price in Nepal can be anticipated to start from Rs.32,999 for the base 6/128GB version. In China, the price for the Pro Plus begins at 2,199 Yuan and 1,699 Yuan for the Pro version. These devices will launch in Nepal in the coming months. After all, it is the best-selling lineup in the Nepalese market for Xiaomi Nepal.

Both phones have impressive specs for the price. Talking of the chip, Dimensity 1080 5G is a pretty solid chipset that comes close to Snapdragon 778G in terms of performance and power. And the 200MP camera on the Pro Plus variant is one of the first in the midrange segment. Even, the 50MP IMX 766 on the Pro variant is a capable lens. Moreover, with WiFi 6, both phones are bringing the tech into the midrange smartphones as well. If launched at the right price, these siblings can carry the legacy of the Redmi Note lineup in Nepal.
