Xiaomi has launched Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China, unveiling a new flagship lineup with improved specs from predecessor Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Especially, we see improvements in battery, larger display, camera, etc. We have more down below.
Xiaomi recently launched the 17 Series, consisting of the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, Pro, and the base variant. The Ultra model now comes as a direct successor to Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The phone has been unveiled in China and should be heading for a global release pretty soon (in 2026). Let’s talk about what we got on it.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra
Design and Display
Xiaomi 17 Ultra shares a similar design path, particularly with the circular camera module. The weight has also gone down to 224 grams from 15 Ultra’s 226/229 grams. The vertical split between the two colors is now less pronounced. But at a glance, the difference is less noticeable.
What’s more apparent is the display size. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate and up to 3500 nits of peak brightness. You are also getting an FHD+ resolution of 1200 x 2608 pixels that keeps things really sharp and rich on the screen. It’s got a layer of Shield Glass 3, aka Dragon Crystal Glass 3, for better durability. The flat design shall contribute to fewer accidental touches on the screen.
Cameras
Xiaomi 17 Ultra carries three cameras- 50 MP main wide with OIS, 200 MP periscope telephoto with OIS and 3.2-4.3x continuous optical zoom, and 50 MP ultrawide camera. The front also features a 50 MP camera. There are tidbits of improvements in the optics that deliver better focus, nightography, and less noise in the final images. Xiaomi has continued its Leica partnership for cameras and expects flagship-level photography on this phone.
