10 11 candidates have applied for the vacant Nepal Telecom (NTC) Managing Director (MD) position. As today is the deadline for filing the application, those qualified and experienced personnel have submitted an application for NTC MD post. Find the name and details of those candidates who are in the race of the open competition for NTC MD.
Ministry of Information and Communication Technology had called for the vacancy of the top managerial position of the Government-owned Telco, Nepal Telecom. The committee to recommend for the MD of Ntc had given a requirement of certain qualifications and experience to fulfill by the applicants. It seems all of those requirements have been fulfilled by the applicants, which will be evaluated by a Committee chaired by Secretary MOCIT, Mahendra Gurung.

Correction: The no of candidates to apply for Ntc Md post is found to be 11. Among which, 4 are from outside and 7 are from within the company. Previously we have mentioned of 10 candidates. Missing personnel is Mr. Ram Dev Yadav. We do not have more information about him. We will update once we have it.
Out of those 10 11 candidates, 7 are the senior officials of the company itself while 3 4 are from outside the company. That 3 personnel are Mr. Buddhi Prasad Acharya, Mr. Anil Kumar Jha, Mr. Nagendra Kumar Das and Mr. Ram Dev Yadav. Mr. Buddhi Prasad Acharya is Charter Accountant by profession and had already assumed the NTC MD post before. Mr. Anil Kumar Jha had worked as the GM of Janak Education Material center (Janak Shikshya Samagri). He had also applied for this post during the first open competition. Mr. Nagendra Kumar Das had worked as Head of the commercial department of Smart Telecom.
Candidates from Nepal Telecom
The 7 candidates from the Nepal Telecom company itself are Mr. Pradeep Upadhyaya, Mr. Gokarna Sitaula, Mr. Sanullah Khan, Mrs. Sangita Pahadi, Mr. Dilli Ram Adhikari, Dr. Bimal Acharya, and Mr. Chandra Mohan Jha. Out of those 7, 5 senior officials are Engineers whereas other 2 are DMDs (just below MD rank ). Mr. Pradeep Upadhyaya, Charter Accountant by profession is the Deputy Managing Director (DMD) in the company, currently working as a Chief Commercial Officer. Mr. Gokarna Sitaula, is also the Deputy Managing Director (DMD), working as Internal Audit head in the company. He had also applied for the open competition to Ntc MD position before. Mr. Sanullah Khan, Engineer by profession is working as Manager in Backbone Department.
Similarly, the only one Female candidate Mrs. Sangita Pahadi (Engineer) works as Manager in Backbone department. Mr. Dilli Ram Adhikari, another Engineer by profession also works as the Manager in the company at Managing Director’s office. Dr. Bimal Acharya, also an Engineer, works as Office in charge at Dhangadi Telecom office, with Deputy Manager post. Dr. Bimal has two doctorate degrees, one from Nepal and another from Canada. Lastly another Engineer Mr. Chandra Mohan Jha works as Deputy Manager in Backbone Department.
Till date, Nepal Telecom has got Managing Director from among the senior officials in the Company, even though it’s an open competition. So, we can expect the same for this time as well.
After evaluating the candidate’s applications, the committee will recommend three finalists out of all those to the Minister. Out of which, Cabinet will appoint one of them, when tabled by MoCIT. The tenure of the NTC MD is 3 years which could be extended to 2 years more based on his/her performance. The evaluation is also done on yearly basis, based on the performance bond.
