Nepal Telecom commercially launches roaming service for prepaid mobile

Nepal Telecom (NTC) makes the commercial launch of the international roaming service for prepaid mobile. The international roaming service starts in Ntc prepaid number from Baishak 16, 2076. In the first phase, the roaming for prepaid mobile works in India and China. Previously, the company had made a soft launch of the roaming service during their 15th-anniversary program. If any Nepal Telecom prepaid customers go to India or China, they can use the mobile network for voice calls or SMS there. They can also pick up the calls from Nepal or make the call to Nepal, using their own mobile number. Roaming service also allows making calls/send SMS to the local phone numbers in the roaming country (India, China).

Cost of the roaming service in Ntc prepaid

We already know that the cost of such an international roaming service is expensive, compared to that of local call service.

Here is the cost of international roaming service for Nepal Telecom prepaid number in China.

• While being in China, the cost of calls to any Chinese number through the NTC roaming number is Rs 50.
• The cost of calls to Nepalese number through the NTC roaming number in China is Rs 90.
• The cost of picking calls from Nepal in the roaming number in China is Rs 53.

Similarly, the cost of the international roaming service for Nepal Telecom prepaid number in India is as follows.

• While being in India, the cost of calls to any Indian number through the NTC roaming number is Rs 30.
• The cost of calls to Nepalese number through the NTC roaming number in India is Rs 30.
• The cost of picking calls from Nepal in the roaming number in India is Rs 14.

The roaming number can also make a call to any other foreign countries other than India and China at Rs 397.

Cost of SMS in roaming

The cost of the SMS from the roaming number in China to Nepalese number is Rs 54. Similarly, the cost of the SMS from the roaming number in India to a Nepalese number is Rs 24. They will not charge any amount for the incoming SMS while roaming in India or China. That means the incoming SMS in the roaming number is free of charge.

The then communication minister Mr. Gokul Prasad Baskota had made a soft launch of the prepaid international roaming during their anniversary program. Now, Nepal Telecom launches the prepaid roaming service commercially.

Earlier the roaming service was only available in the Ntc postpaid mobile through filling a form and depositing some amount. But for activation of Prepaid roaming service does not charge any amount nor the deposit is required. Additionally, the customer can use the balance amount in their prepaid phone for the roaming service call, SMS.

How to subscribe/activate roaming service in Ntc prepaid?

To activate the international roaming service,

• You need to dial *1415*7#, and it will activate the international roaming service.
• You can also enable roaming through Nepal Telecom app.

• Customers need to dial *1415# and select there to deactivate the international roaming service.
