The Government of India has once again banned 118 More Chinese Apps including the likes of PUBG, CamCard, Baidu, Cut Cut, Voo, and more. The causes of this move from the Indian Government is due to the continuous rise in tension between the two nations over the border invasion issue. The move comes after a few months back in June, India had banned more than 59 Chinese Apps including popular apps like Tiktok, ShareIt, UC Browser, WeChat, CamScanner, and more. This move from India will surely hit hardest to the many streamers and gamers playing PUBG especially. Previously due to the same issue, India opted to boycott the Chinese Telecom equipment.
The ministry said in an official statement that, “The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has received many complaints from various sources including several reports about the misuse of some mobile apps available on Android and iOS platforms for stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorized manner to servers which have locations outside of India,”.
They also added, “There has been a strong chorus in the public space to take strict action against apps that harm India’s sovereignty as well as the privacy of our citizens.”
The Ministry further added, “In the interest of sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India and security of the State. And using the sovereign powers, the Government of India has decided to block the usage of certain Apps, used in both mobile and non-mobile Internet-enabled devices”.
It also said, “This decision is a targeted move to ensure safety, security, and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace,”
The most popular and biggest name included has to be the PUBG. PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) is one of the most popular Battle Royale games around the globe and is very popular in India as well. The game is available for mobile phones, Xbox console as well as for Windows PC. The game has the highest number of downloads globally in India as it is very popular among youths. the ban of the gaming app is definitely going to have the most impact as most of the youths are into the game and they are also making money by playing the game.
The ban on the apps will lead to further deterioration of the relation between the nations. The investors from both the nation will not be investing in the projects. We will have to wait and how well the ban will be taken by the common people.
The Nepalese government had also banned the PUBG game in Nepal due to the addiction of the youth in the game. But soon the ban on PUBG game was lifted in Nepal with Supreme Court order. So, one must play the game without being addicted to it and only for fun.
