Vivo Tops Asia Pacific For 5G Smartphone Shipments in Q2 2021

Vivo jumped to the top for 5G smartphone shipments in the Q2 2021, Strategy Analytics reports. This is the first time Vivo has taken the pole position in the Asia Pacific during a single quarter. The research firm says Vivo’s annual shipment grew by a stunning 215 percent in 2021.

Vivo is becoming a preferred choice for consumers in 5G mobile phone lineups. The company even managed to get ahead of major rivals such as Xiaomi, and OPPO in the segment in Asian regions which have a traditional stronghold in the region.

Yiwen Wu, a senior analyst at Strategy Analytics, said: “Vivo is a leading smartphone manufacturer in the Asia-Pacific region with annual shipment growth of 215%. In the past year, Vivo has surpassed Xiaomi, OPPO, and Apple to become the top 5G smartphone shipments in the Asia-Pacific region.”

Vivo 5G smartphones: Combination Of Technology and Affordability

Vivo’s rising market stakes for 5G phones are due to the combination of its leading technology and high-quality products. It is also noteworthy that the three of the brands in the top 5 were Chinese smartphone brands.

Asia Pacific 5G smartphone Shipment Q2 2021

Vivo had shipped 20% of 5G smartphones in Q2,21 which slightly bettered Xiaomi shipped 19.3% of 5G phones. Another Chinese brand OPPO trailed at third with 18.7% followed by Apple and Samsung.

Coming from Q2 of the previous year, 2020, Vivo made an increment of almost 7%. This is a testimony to its rising appeal among the consumers for 5G smartphones.

Meanwhile, the company has also taken its share of the market vacated by the decline of Huawei. Wu adds, “Vivo successfully took advantage of Huawei’s market share decline. Leading technology and affordable prices enabled Vivo Smartphones such as the iQOOO U3 5G and the iQOOO 7 5G to become the most popular 5G devices in the region.”

Strategy Analytics had noted that Vivo was the second-fastest-growing 5G brand in the world since the beginning of 2021. The company managed to take continue this strong momentum through Q1, 21.

Vivo now sees itself among Realme, OPPO, and Xiaomi in delivering varieties of 5G smartphones at various price ranges in the Asian regions.
