WorldLink launched its fiber internet service (FTTH) in Jumla on March 15, 2023. The company formally began its high-speed broadband service in the remote region of Nepal bringing high-quality internet service to the remote areas of the district for the first time.

The fiber cable-based internet brings fast and reliable internet speeds which will transform the user experience of customers in the remote areas of Jumla which lies in the Karnali Province.

The private ISP informed that it completed fiber cable expansion including other infrastructure works before launching the service. To launch fiber internet service in Jumla, WorldLink said it made the investment of Rs 150 million (15 crores).

“Expanding FTTH fiber internet in Jumla is significant. The people in Jumla now can use the same quality of internet service which is available for the customers in Kathmandu.” WorldLink founder and Managing director Dileep Agrawal said.

He stressed that the fiber internet launch in Jumla is not just a business but also a campaign to connect the country. “Previously, Jumla had wireless internet, now it has fiber broadband. We will bring state-of-the-art high-speed internet to Jumla and the entire Karnali region,” he added. Check out: 5G vs Fiber: Which Is Better?

Being a technophile, I am particularly fascinated by the evolution of mobile networks in Nepal from legacy networks (2G, 3G) to 4G (with VoLTE, VoWiFi, eSIM) and the prospects of the upcoming 5G, and equally enthralled by the development of internet from the dial-up connection to the 2 Gbps XGS-PON fiber broadband technology and their transformative impact in the country.
