The Planning Department under Nepal Telecom (NTC)’s Wireline & Customer Service Directorate (WCSD) and Wireless Service Directorate (WSD) has prepared a plan to construct 4,965 FDCs (Fiber Distribution Cabinets) across the country. These FDCs will have a total distribution capacity of more than 2.5 million (25 lakh) lines across Nepal.
According to the company, the plan is to distribute FTTH to 431 local bodies. This includes all 6 metropolitan cities, 11 sub-metropolitan cities, 236 municipalities, and 176 rural municipalities. There are 753 local bodies in Nepal. Also, it’s worth noting that NTC FTTH fiber internet is available in all 77 districts.
The Project Implementation Departments East and West under the Directorate target to install 214,344 FTTH ports and 453 FDC construction plans in all seven provinces in FY 2082/083. To date, it has expanded the distribution capacity by 62,976 FTTH lines by Kartik, 2082. This is 29.38 percent of the overall target. Previously, there was a distribution capacity of 2174,064 lines by Ashar 2082. The capacity has now reached 2237,040.
Ntc has about 4 lakh FTTH voice users and over 3.64 lakh FTTH data users. As of Ashoj 2082, the company’s NT TV has over 72,000 customers. The company distributes its FTTH service under the brand name NT Fiber.
Unlike the traditional fiber package, the company provides data, IPTV, internet, and telephone services. We also call it a Triple Play service of Ntc.
