State-backed telco Nepal Telecom (NTC) has brought into operation 4G network in the Bam area in Mugu district. The company launched both 4G and 2G services in the area to provide users fast mobile broadband and reliable voice services.
The company brought services live with a cellular tower set on Chhayanath Rara-14. The area is geographically complex and was hard to set up infrastructure and bring services live. But finally, the operator has brought it.

NTC 4G in Bam area of Mugu
After NTC launched 4G and 2G services in the Bam area in Mugu, the company says that various nearby areas are getting the benefits of faster data and voice services. These areas include the Bam-Lum area, Gamgadhi to Syauru settlements, and many areas in municipalities. The service launch has also strengthened the presence of NT in the area.
The company also expects that the tower will help improve services in settlements from Gamgadhi toward the New Road side, passing through Thini and extending to Im. It is also expected to handle some of the traffic around Gamgadhi, reducing the load on other towers and thereby improving the quality of mobile services in the district headquarters.
The service helps locals, local businesses, as well as tourists to connect to a faster network and enjoy broadband services. Users can also use 4G to place NTC VoLTE calls with HD quality.
So far, NTC 4G coverage has reached over 98% of local levels. The company is seeking all-Nepal coverage by the end of FY 2083/84. This is why NTC has started shutting down 3G network by FY 2083/84. The company is already phasing out 2G on the 1800 MH band.
