MoCIT has issued an urgent notice on this current situation as the daily life has been disrupted due to the heavy rainfall in the various parts of the country. As per DHM (Department of hydrology and Meteorology), heavy rainfall is expected to continue for 3 days. So, in this difficult period, MoCIT has urged the need of communication services and informs of working to strengthen the communication services for smooth information flow.
A meeting was also held on Ashoj 18 in presence of Minister of Communication, Jagadish Kharel along with representatives from affiliated organizations to discuss on the matter. The meeting decided to ensure the communication channels remain uninterrupted in this disaster period. They also committed to work proactively for preparations to aid people for smooth communication services and ensure accurate information flow to citizens during disasters.

Heavy rainfall also poses threats to communication infrastructure. As it may damage the critical communication infrastructure like transmission link, towers and base stations, it may lead to network outages. Similarly, the prolonged power outage could also disrupt the communication services in the network side and also in the user side. So, service providers need to work hard to ensure network continuity for basic communication, emergency information (including SMS alerts), and disaster relief, recovery. While people also need to ensure their phone do not run out of battery for such critical information from government and also contact for emergency help/relief.
In their effort to reduce the harm due to the heavy rainfall in October 2025, Nepal Government has
- provided high alert for the rain affected areas with the clear message to be safe during the possible disaster.
- evacuated people in high-risk zones to safe areas.
- restricted travel in landslide prone highways in and out of Kathmandu.
- provided information on ring back tone (CRBT) to prepare for the heavy rainfall and safety.
- declared public holiday on Ashoj 19 and 20 to prevent people travel to Kathmandu & other cities after Dashain.
- prevented night travel in some risk prone areas.
- issued warning of flood, landslide, road damage to people in risk zones, via DHM.
